Ledger hardware wallets give you offline, secure custody of your crypto keys. This guide walks through unboxing, initial setup, recovery procedures, Ledger Live basics, and where to find official help — with direct links to Ledger’s official resources.
Unbox your Ledger device (Nano X, Nano S Plus, or Stax), a computer or mobile phone, a USB cable, and a secure, private place to write your 24-word Secret Recovery Phrase on the provided recovery sheet.
Never share your 24-word Secret Recovery Phrase. Ledger will never ask for it. Use only official Ledger apps and pages when setting up. If in doubt, contact Ledger Support directly via official channels below.
These steps are covered with interactive help on Ledger’s official support hub. See the setup guides in the links list below.
Ledger devices generate a 24-word phrase using BIP-39. It is the only way to restore access if your device is lost or broken. Ledger offers a Recovery Check app to verify your backup and a Ledger Recovery Key product for additional protection — see official resources below.
To restore, use Restore your Ledger accounts with your recovery phrase. Only perform restores using your hardware device and the Ledger Live app.
Download Ledger Live and follow interactive onboarding: Ledger Live — official.
If your device isn’t recognized, or you encounter errors, consult Ledger Support’s troubleshooting articles and contact pages. Never follow links from unsolicited DMs; always use the official support portal.
